CAT PPALU CRUISES
Dive Travel Magazine
Love may be the spice of life, but novelty is the spice of
vacation and love. The Exuma Islands are both novel and lovely -
the ideal locale for an exotic getaway or a unique adventure.
Cat Ppalu Cruises offers all this and more.
The Bahamas' Exuma Chain consists of 365 mostly uninhabited
islands and cays. That's one for every day of the year.
Spectacular coves, secluded anchorages and white sandy beaches
(the kind that defy description) are just a few of the pleasant
surprises awaiting adventuresome souls willing to take the sea
and sail. Better yet,let somebody else do the sailing. Leave it
to Cat Ppalu.
One of the finest live-aboard cruise ships in the Bahamas, Cat
Ppalu was designed especially for living and diving pleasure.
Cat Ppalu is more than a catamaran. She is a 65' twin-hulled,
floating resort. With six air-conditioned cabins, full-sized
beds, a sun deck, ample fresh water and gourmet meals, Cat Ppalu
and her crew will pamper you as you cruise gently from island to
island, site to site, and dive to dive.
So, what makes the Exumas so much more than just tiny islands
in the big, blue sea? Let's start with one of the first stops on
this enchanting adventure, a landmass called Allan's Cay. Forty
miles southeast of Nassau, Allan's Cay is a blast from the
prehistoric past. Home to the rare Bahamian iguana, a two-foot
lizard with a social disposition, Allan's Cay is a perfect place
for a reptilian photo opportunity.
Beneath the water (where die-hard divers have the option of
spending most of their time), the Exumas are home to one of the
world's largest barrier reefs, blue holes and drop-offs. Fishing
is banned here, so the waters teem with marine life. Fantastic
dive sites just beg to be explored, like Amberjack Reef where you
can have a close encounter with reef sharks and the occasional
hammerhead.
Snorkel or scuba at Wax Cut Cay, a drift dive with currents
averaging one to four knots. Explore Dog Rocks Wall, a medley of
deep fissures, towering pinnacles and vibrant fish.
While some live-aboards insist that you get most of your kicks
by diving, Cat Ppalu offers plenty more opportunities for
excitement. Watch the world go by from Cat Ppalu's underwater
window. Relax and socialize in the vessel's elegant, spacious
main salon. Take an ocean kayak to nearby islands, and get
up-close and personal with curly tail lizards and flocks of rare,
spectacular birds.
Cat Ppalu's crew is friendly, accommodating and knowledgeable.
The vessel herself is stupendous. The diving is remarkable. In
short, the entire Cat Ppalu cruise experience is as timeless and
novel as love - an adventure worth having again and again and
again.
